The University of Essex Palestine Solidarity Society is a group of students from all over the world dedicated to the Palestinian cause. We are committed to the fight for a free Palestine and to raising awareness on our campus about what really is happening to the Palestinian people. We are open to anyone who condemns the oppression of the Palestinian people by Israel and anyone who wants to learn more about the situation. Especially following last years war on Gaza and the blockade that has been imposed since 2007 making Gaza the 'worlds largest prison'; we feel that it is more important than ever to do whatever we can to help the people of Palestine and to show them that the whole world has not forgotten them. Especially, we as students, have the opportunity to really make a difference by spreading the message and raise awareness about how the people of Palestine suffer and how important it is for us to do whatever we can to help them. Following last year's amazing display of solidarity for the Palestinians here on campus we feel it is important that we keep the cause alive on our campus and continue with the same spirit and dedication we saw last year. Our aims are to be as active as possible both on campus and outside and to open as many eyes as possible. We will be holding weekly meetings and events such as talks,screenings,fundraisers,demonstrations and whatever people have in mind.
