The SUAC currently employs 3 permanent members of staff and 22 volunteers.
Fiona Harvey – Advice Centre Manager
Fiona holds overall responsibility for the Advice Centre. Fiona’s role includes; ensuring the Advice Centre provides appropriate and current advice, recruiting, developing and supporting volunteers. Fiona is the Advice Centre’s external representative and is responsible for developing the Advice Centre.
Fiona did an LLB (Hons) at Essex and has worked in various areas of the University including; Accommodation, Business Development, Personnel and Equal Opportunities. Prior to this role she was an Harassment Adviser for 7 years.

Viv Banks – Deputy Manager
Viv was promoted from Receptionist Administrator to Deputy Manager of the Advice Centre. She co-ordinates the work of the volunteers, deals with Hardship loans and provides advice and support for volunteers and clients. She deputizes for Fiona in her absence.
Viv gained a first class degree in English Language and Linguistics at Essex and previously worked at the Employment Service. She also worked for a bank and the Council Housing Department. Viv is a school governor at a local Colchester School.
Sian Lovesy – Senior Caseworker
Sian deals primarily with clients and deals with more complex cases. Sian travels to Southend once a month to provide a surgery for members there.
An Essex graduate, she studied psychology and graduated in 2007.
