RAG Week (Raising and Giving) is quickly approaching but if you think it’s all bake sales and change buckets, you’d be wrong.  This year we’re searching for University of Essex students who have the most sparkling charm, the biggest blagging skills and heaps of courage as we ask you one question; how far could you go?
48 hours, no budget and only one chance to go down in Essex folklore.  You’ll be sponsored by the mile as you try to get as far away from Essex as possible.  The problem?  You’re not allowed to spend any money.  And we mean it.  Zilch, nada, nil.  Only those with the gift of the gab need apply because you’re not going to get on any trains or board a flight for free without being resourceful!

The winning students will rightfully go down as Essex legends, having everyone at the Summer Ball chanting your name and even a special shrine erected in the SU Bar as proof of how far around the world you got in one piece over those fateful 48 hours in June!

We can’t let just anyone run off globetrotting so get your applications in now!

You can apply on your own or in a pair, all you need to do is…

1.      Grab a mobile or video camera and film yourself telling us why you should be chosen to take part (it doesn’t have to be Hollywood quality, but you get bonus points for being funny or showing us your blagging skills in action).

2.  Upload the video to Facebook or YouTube and email us a link to sumarketing@essex.ac.uk.

Once we’ve selected our contestants you’ll be split into 10 teams.  Don’t be complacent though, this isn’t your ticket out of Essex quite yet!  Out of the ten pairs left, only five will continue on to the final challenge and see how far they can get away from Essex.  At this point we need to see that you’re going to help raise thousands of pounds for good causes so all ten teams will be given a week to collect as much money for charity as possible and to gather as many supporters as they can.  The five winners will be those who have and will continue to raise fantastic amounts for charity.
