RAG Principle Charities for 2007-08
Terrence Higgins Trust - www.tht.org.uk
Terrence Higgins Trust (THT) is the leading HIV and AIDS charity in the UK, and the largest in Europe. THT was one of the first charities to be set up in response to the HIV epidemic and has been at the forefront of the fight against HIV and AIDS ever since. THT has merged with local community-based HIV charities to create a national organisation with the stability and infrastructure capable of ensuring a long-term response to the HIV and sexual health needs.
Remember HIV and AIDS affects everyone.
World Aids Day

Colchester Rape Crisis Line is a confidential telephone help-line counselling service run by women for women and girls who have suffered any form of sexual violence, past or present. Run For The Children (Children with Leukaemia) - www.runforthechild

ren.co.uk
We should be hosting a fun run in March 2008 for ‘Run for the Children’ which was founded in 2003 and since its launch, over 25,000 children and parents have taken part in over hundreds of fun runs up and down the country. The raised is donated to Children with Leukaemia - the UK’s leading charity dedicated to fighting Britain’s biggest childhood cancer.
Research from past events showed that 85 percent of participants claimed that the
Run for the Children programme had encouraged them to lead a healthier lifestyle.
And, we have big hopes for the future aiming to have one million people taking part in fun runs in towns and cities across the UK by 2012.
BBC Children In Need Appeal (Friday 16 November 2007) - www.bbc.co.uk/pudsey/

BBC Children in Need has been made aware of the issues regarding a BBC Scotland competition in November 2005. We share the BBC's view that the integrity of the BBC Children in Need TV show is critical to maintain the trust of the audience and we support the steps they are taking to ensure that an incident of this type is never repeated. We would like to reassure our supporters that the mistake was made by the programme-makers during the BBC Scotland output in 2005 and donations to the charity were not affected in any way.
Every donation made is used to support our work in the UK aimed at making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people.
Leukaemia Care - www.leukaemiacare.org.uk

Leukaemia CARE exists to provide vital care and support to all those whose lives are affected by leukaemia, lymphoma and the allied blood disorders. Our work extends to the welfare of families and carers, as well as that of patients themselves. Quite simply... 'supporting a quality of life'.
Leukaemia Care is working hard to raise funds for those with leukaemia and allied blood disorders, and we would love you to help. As a university volunteer group we feel that this opportunity may be right up your street.
We will provide a fund raising pack to help you to organise the day, you choose which of this year’s big releases you would like to ‘premiere’ and we will talk to the cinema to try to arrange that. It would be advertised through local newspapers and radio asking people to come along, and pay a premium on top of standard ticket prices as a donation to the charity. A member of staff from the charity would attend on the day to support you, and will be always be available to you on the phone if you have questions or need assistance.
We intend to hold a full charity film premiere in Colchester. Providing a real red carpet event for film buffs, making a truly special evening for all involved.
Fellow students and volunteers acting as paparazzi, camera bulbs flashing away as more customers arrive
A roped off red carpet walkway – ideal for people to pose for real photos
Volunteers dressed in suits and tuxedos to greet the ‘stars’ as they arrive
We are aiming to get ten groups involved with a target of raising £1000.
