Get involved!
As a student at Essex there are volunteer placements within the Ents Department that won’t take up much of your time, and have the potential to not only save you money; whilst you have a great time, but improve your CV by adding vital skills that today’s employers are looking for. You will be a committed volunteer, and as we get to know you over a period of time we are often asked to write references on your behalf for future employers after you leave University.
Why Volunteer?
Volunteering is not normally paid like normal Students’ Union regular jobs, as generally there are few hours and the benefits allow you to still get involved but retain more freedom whilst having lots of fun in the process !
Here are 5 reasons why you should email us now for an informal interview about what roles are available :
- Improve transferable skills e.g. confidence, responsibility, motivational, organisational etc.
- Work placement skills e.g. teamwork, communication, problem solving, promotions, marketing etc.
- Meet new people & make new friends
- Gain valuable experience of the work place environment
- Get in free to events with a special VIP card and enjoy drinks discounts
- Roles range from Marketing/promotions, bar promos, games nights, quizmaster, Miss or Master Flirt, Décor stylists, research, administration duties, artist liaison and DJ’ing ( DJ’ing is usually a paid role once an induction stage has been completed ).
