Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure

If you want to volunteer with Children, young people or vulnerable adults, you will require a Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure (CRB check).  It will depend on what organisation you volunteer with as to whether you apply for this through the Vteam or the organisation itself.  The application requires ID to verify your address and identity, and you will also need information such as your National Insurance number and your full address history for the last five years.

The application can take 3-6 weeks to process and you may not be able to start volunteering until you have received your Disclosure back.  It is therefore important to apply for the check as soon as possible to prevent unnecessary delay.

If you have any criminal convictions, reprimands, cautions or final warnings, you should disclose this, in confidence, to the Vteam Manager when you apply for your disclosure and arrange your placement.  Forms are available from the Vteam office.
