essex BlADES judo club

What is Judo?

Judo is many things to different people. It is a fun sport, an art, a discipline, a recreational or social activity, a fitness program, a means of self-defense or combat, and a way of life.
People practice Judo to excel in competition, to stay in shape, to develop self-confidence, and for many other reasons. But most of all, people do Judo just for the fun of it.
If you want to take up a sport for any of the reasons above, come and try one of our taster sessions and see how it is first hand.

We welcome judo players of all levels.

Beginners are always welcome, just come in comfortable sports clothes and a judo gi if you have one.

We head over to TopBar after Tuesday night sessions for a drink and a catchup - everyone is welcome.

Socials

What's a sports team without socials?! Last year we had various trips to restaurants, a few barbecues, frequent meetings at Top bar and the SU and a couple of casual dinners in tower kitchens. This year, we wish to do even more! So, along with the ever-joyous end of year dinners, and our normal top-bar meetings after the Tuesday sessions, check the facebook group to see about trips out Bowling, Roller disco, Go Bananas and just about anything else in the area! If that's not enough, we'd love you to tell us your ideas for socials!

other info about us

A typical training session will contain elements including warm-up, ground fighting (ne-waza), standing technique training (tachi-waza) and free sparring at the end (randori). We encourage all students to compete in competitions and take part in randori whatever their level. We cater to different needs and abilities and will work with you to get the best out of you!
For participants who wish to train more than 2 sessions a week the Colchester Judo Club is a good chance to extend your training times, for a fee. Visit the Colchester Judo Facebook Page
