"Merhaba, hosgeldiniz..." means hello and welcome in Turkish!

Dear Essex people,

We as Turkish-speaking Cypriots would like to greet you with a friendly “Merhaba” from our Mediterranean hearts.

The main aim of this Society is to bring all Turkish-speaking Cypriots together, introduce and share our culture and traditions with any of you interested, i.e Traditional card games, folk-dancing and Cypriot songs and so on.

We are genuinely open to welcome students from any background to our society to share our traditional cuisine, language and music as long as you are willing to learn and explore our unique way of life. We are planning to organize such events and social activities throughout the year, so please keep tuned and check our Facebook Page

We are looking forward to meet each one of you out there and have a great time with you while sharing and having great social events.

A note to our Greek-speaking Cypriot compatriots:

Having in mind the post situation in Cyprus, which the conflict between Greek speaking and Turkish speaking Cypriots was started in 1963 and it hurt both sides until 1974 and lead to division of the island. This is neither yours nor our fault, it happened in the past and we have to look forward. Turkish Cypriot Society wish the best for our country and willing to live together in peace in the closest future. Therefore, our Society is open for all Cypriots. In addition to these, we are also open to collaborate with Cypriot Society in promoting our unique Cypriot shared culture to the international community here in Essex.

Kind regards and hugs. See you soon.
