Welcome to your new home for the next few years! As a student coming to the University of Essex you’re automatically a member of the Students' Union otherwise known as the SU. Student Perks
One of the best things about being a student is getting your student discount – the NUS Extra card lets you get money off from a whole load of big retailers like Amazon, Pizza Express and ASOS so you can save a small fortune by using it. The NUS Extra Card costs just £12 and lasts a full year.
Freshers Week
Your first week, starting 1st October 2012 will be completely jam packed full of events for you to attend. Some events are compulsory and will be detailed in the welcome pack you will receive in the post. Most of the SU's events are optional but you’d be crazy to miss them.
