we give you things to do
There’s more to life than studying, so what are you going to do with all of your spare time? Do you play sports? Are you into music, movies, or computer games? Or is it politics, religion or the environment that really gets you going?
Whatever it is that excites you there’s almost certainly a Students’ Union sports club or a society that covers it (and if there’s not you can always set one up and we’ll help fund you).
Clubs and societies are basically groups of students that have come together because they are all into a particular thing, whether it’s tennis, drum n’ bass, stopping the war or something completely different. They are all set up and run by students, with guidance and financial support from the Students’ Union.
The best way to find out which ones you might be interested in joining is to check out sports and societies section below or come to Freshers Fair.
societies
The Students’ Union supports a Societies Guild, with 120 registered societies covering cultural, religious, political, social and academic interests — there is literally something for everyone with only a selection of our societies listed here. If you want to meet like-minded people or learn something new, joining a society is definitely the way to go.
All societies are open to anyone to join, regardless of gender, ethnic origin, race or sexual orientation. You can visit the Students’ Union reception any time to sign up.
If none of the existing societies appeals to you, then why not start one up yourself? All you need is a society start up form (available from SU reception) with 20 signatures from potential members.
