The University of Essex has some great sports facilities for you to enjoy , whether you're part of an SU sports club or simply want to keep fit.
For students studying at the Colchester Campus the Sports Centre is right on your doorstep, offering extensive indoor and all-weather outdoor team sports amenities as well as the new £1.4m Evolve gym and activity studios.
So whatever your sporting passion, from football or climbing, to squash or yoga, there’s something on campus to suit you!

What facilities are on campus?
Indoor facilities:
The new Evolve gym boasts more than 130 state-of-the-art workstations with cardio, resistance and free weights, plus machines with integrated TV screens and iPod /USB ports, allowing you to listen to music and download your personalised workouts.
There are also activity studios with a busy timetable of classes from aerobics to yoga, a multi-purpose sports hall, squash courts, a climbing wall and much more.
Outdoor facilities:
Outside, the sports centre offers synthetic and grass pitches, cricket facilities, tennis and netball courts, disc golf, jogging, orienteering and the squirrel run.
