Whilst it’s true that they’re often the best years you’ll ever have, University life can also be pretty daunting and there will probably be times when you feel worried, stressed, unhappy and in need of some good advice.
To help you in this situation the Students’ Union runs a dedicated Advice Centre on Square 3. It’s kind of like a shop, but instead of selling things they give out advice, free of charge.
The Advice Centre staff are all trained professionals and their advice is completely independent and confidential.
So whether you’ve got questions about money, housing, health or student visas, they’re on hand to give you sound advice so that you can get back on with enjoying student life
You can call into the Advice Centre anytime between 10-4pm each week day during term time. You can also check out online advice and information by visiting essexstudent.com/advice. Please note we only give Immigration Advice on an appointment basis.
Volunteers
The Advice Centre is currently recruiting for Volunteers. The purpose of the role is to assist with the efficient and effective running of the Students’ Union Advice Centre,.
Are you a good listener? Would you like to gain incredible experience at the same time as helping other students? If so, you could be just what we are after. The Advice
Centre is currently looking for new assistants and it’s a role that’s got a lot to offer, as one of our previous Senior Advisers can testify “I started as an assistant and at that point I had no experience. I wanted to work in the Advice Centre because I thought it would be a good way to meet new people and in particular learn new skills to help in my future career as a Solicitor. I’ve learnt so much doing this role and it’s been so rewarding – I’d definitely encourage other students to apply”
