Your rights as a volunteer

To be safe, valued and respected as an individual
Have access to information about V-Team activities and projects
Receive training relevant to your volunteering
Get recognition for your voluntary activities
Be supported by the V-Team in your voluntary activity
Not be used in place of staff or exploited in any way
Have the choice to leave or change projects
Have out of pocket expenses reimbursed (see expenses policy)
To be insured whilst volunteering
Not to be excluded on the grounds of age, disability, race, religion or sexual orientation & an open access policy will be actively encouraged.  Please see the information on CRB checks for certain restrictions
Your personal details to be treated as strictly confidential in line with relevant data protection legislation
Have a voice in the running of the V-Team
Have the right to have FUN!

Your responsibilities as a volunteer

Abide by the V-Team’s policies and procedures
Be reliable, informing projects directly if you cannot attend
To attend appropriate training sessions and meetings
Understand professional boundaries and issues of self-disclosure, and respect confidentiality
Keep the V-Team up-to- date with what you’re doing
Respect other volunteers and all the people you are working with
Let the V-Team know if you have a complaint about your volunteering
Let the V-Team know if you want to leave a project
Make suggestions about how the V-Team can improve
Represent the V-Team and the SU in a positive way
