Running from October to December, the Essex Apprentice is an exciting competition to find the best business brain at the University of Essex. Last year saw 81 applications and 20 students competing for the final prize of £400, which went to Alba Codes Ruiz the first ever Essex Apprentice, after the three tasks were completed. Organised by your Students’ Union VP Education, the competition sees candidates take on a series of tasks to show they have what it takes to be the next Essex Apprentice. The program is designed to challenge students, developing their skills throughout with a mentor system, and pushing them to achieve their full potential.
Applications for the Essex Apprentice 2010 will open in October, so look out for this exciting event at Freshers’ Fair and be sure to get involved in this fantastic experience.
The 20 students in the competition last year were divided into 5 teams; Team Blade, Team Nerva, The A-Team, Team Apex, and Team Triumph. Teams Blade and Nerva were eliminated after the first task but The A-Team managed to secure a further £400 of prize money for their development of the concept of an enterprising student. During the final task £1757 was raised for the charity TACMEP (Tendering and Colchester Minority and Ethnic Partnership).
The Deadline for applications will close on October 17 and the application will be available from this website in the near future. All students are welcome to apply to compete to be the next Essex Apprentice. Could it be you?
