SU Deckchairs

studying just got a whole lot
more comfortable.

We only get about 66 days of sun a year in Essex, that's not a lot when you think about it.

So why not take your study outside with you? Borrow a deckchair and head to the lakes, or maybe the secret garden, or what about the hill near the Ivor Crewe? Just don't be inside, go get some vitamin D.

How does it work?
well, It's simple.

Just book a deckchair online or from SU Reception.

You can book up to 6 deckchairs for up to 2 hours at a time: 10:00-12:00, 12:15-14:15, and 14:30-16:30.

You'll need to collect them from SU Reception and leave a £5 deposit per chair (which we'll give back to you when you return them).

There are also a few boring Ts & Cs you'll need to read as well, but basically don't break the chairs and you'll be fine.

SOUND GOOD?

We've only got a limited number of chairs so make sure you book in advance or we might not be able to give you one.

If you book one but then change your mind or need to cancel it, no worries just send an email to su@essex.ac.uk and let us know.

Let's do this.

THIS IDEA CAME FROM
jan laska.

If you've got an idea for something you'd like to see changed or something entirely new, submit it as an SU Idea. If it receives enough support from fellow students, we'll do what we can to make it happen.

Find out more about how it works and submit your own idea here.

Here's those T's & C's we mentioned.

  • We might not always have the amount of deckchairs you have requested available, but one of the team will get back to you as soon as possible to let you know how many we have.
  • Each deckchair requires a £5 deposit to be paid in cash on collection of chair.
  • You'll need to bring some ID with you when you collect them (your student card is fine) and only the person whose details were on the booking can collect the deckchairs.
  • Deckchairs can only be used for the normal purpose for which they are intended. (That's sitting, in case you were wondering.)
  • The deckchairs must not be altered or amended in any way, including attaching anything to the deckchair like screws, nails or adhesive fixings.
  • Any damage to the deckchairs should be reported to us as soon as possible. We check each chair when they're returned, however it's a good idea to have a look yourself before you take them away.
  • You're responsible for the safe storage and keeping of the deckchairs, including protection from weather damage. You should also insure against loss, damage and theft.
  • The SU is not liable for loss, damage or theft of the deckchairs from the start of the rental period until the end of the rental period
  • Any deckchair that has been lost stolen or damaged will be charged for at the rate of £30.00 per chair.
