Each year in February, students put themselves forward to run for a full-time, paid position as a Student Leader. They campaign for votes and every Essex student will have an equal chance to 'vote like a student' and choose who they want to be elected into each of the 6 roles. This is the SU Leadership Election.

For the bridge between two sides. Vote for Determination, Openness and a true Member of your community. Vote for D.O.M.!

Hey there! When was the last time you got involved with the SU elections? Why would you, right? Here I will tell you why – and all I need is YOUR help to make this happen.

My name is Domantas, I am a 3rd year student, proud, active, and highly motivated member of University of Essex student community, one of the execs of Essex Rowing club, more than ready to leave my mark at our university and help our sports community to stand up after the disaster we call year 2020 – I think about it just as much as you!

My main goals for this year if I was to be elected are:

  • Determined to stand for the best interest of sports societies till the last drop of my blood! Sounds dramatic, right? But that’s how strong I feel about our community! Last year dealt such a heavy blow for university sports, and while you probably heard this many times before, doubt anyone, including you, can deny it. If I was to be elected, I will do all that I can in my disposal to address, listen and identify issues many clubs are facing now, popularize active lifestyle among students.
  • Open - when was the last time you heard about what is parliament up to? Or you felt involved? If you answered “no” to at least one of these questions, this means you are at the right place, because I know where you are coming from and am up for the change! If I was to be elected, I promise to face both sides of the medal – both legislative, and community side. Active on social media, active on campus, for all of us – and not just for the campaign purposes, this is not how I intend to bring “positive change”.
  • Member of the community – as part of the Rowing club, I am directly involved with sports at our university. My goal is to represent YOU, and the only way how I can do is by becoming a member of SU. If I was to be elected, it is not going to be just about me, it is going to be about US, students. That is why, I will prioritize that the communication would not only be there for this study year but do all I can to create an environment where the community can actively communicate with the parliament and feel more included.

These are only brief insights of all I have planed for us if I was to be elected, but they are on point – I am Determined to work hard, Open for the change I, and I hope you, want to see, because I am just as much of a Member of sports community as you are.

If this manifesto speaks to you then D.O.M. (Determined, Open, Member) is the slogan for You!
