Candidate for the position of Disabled Students' Officer
JOSHUA PAWAAR
How we equalise opportunities for those with disabilities is a defining feature of any society. We all have a lot to give and a lot of life to live, but as someone with a disability it can be easy to be left behind. With a voice and a few adjustments, we can all enjoy life to the fullest and I aim to give a voice to those who can often feel voiceless. I have had struggles with my mobility still manage it to this day; however I am fortunate enough to have the ability to represent.
My main aims are:
- Recognition of and support for non-neurotypical students and those with mood disorders
- Initiatives to ensure the campus is friendly towards those with mobility requirements
- Liaising with departments about difficulties disabled students may have on their courses
- Support with benefits and help available to disabled students
- Drives towards maximising employment opportunities for disabled students upon graduation
