Hi everyone, my name is Flazzi and I am running to be your new VP Community and Engagement. 

As a student who has been here for 4 years, I have seen the university experience go from high to low. Change needs to occur immediately.

It has become increasingly hard for students to come out of their shells recently due to the pandemic restricting everyone to their homes. Having measures taken so that we can bring everyone out and bring people together will elevate this university to new heights. This has affected how students treat lectures and socialising.

Not having face to face lectures has kept students too comfortable by themselves and in their own homes. Also they could feel isolated and not feel like students due to this. 

Societies exist so that people of different interests, cultures and sport can come together and be amongst people who they can relate to. I am willing to take societies one step further so that people can become so involved with their societies that students can feel in their element when around people of similar mindsets. 

As a VP Community and Engagement, I vow to hear every voice, no matter how large or small. This will make sure that every issue gets rectified and people can have a better experience while being a student. As much as I am not involved in many societies, I am willing to learn about peoples interests and cultures. Just like anyone else on this campus, I am also a student, even if it is the only thing that we have in common.

We as a SU need to empower our students to make the most of our time at university. To make this time period unforgettable, vote for me to be your VP Community and Engagement so that we can become a true Essex community.
