Each year in February, students put themselves forward to run for a full-time, paid position as a Student Leader. They campaign for votes and every Essex student will have an equal chance to 'vote like a student' and choose who they want to be elected into each of the 6 roles. This is the SU Leadership Election.

RUSSO WAI

If YOU want to be HEARD, VOTE for the one who LISTENS.

I firmly stand by the message that the most sincere form of respect is actually listening to what others have to say.

As the role of being an Asian representative requires constant, updated feedback from the Asian community, I genuinely believe that being a good listener is key to effectively executing this role. Moreover, as an Economics undergraduate, I am trained to resolve issues by constantly looking at the bigger picture. So, with this opportunity, I hope to learn new skills such as investigating the minute details of all feedback and adapting quickly to the community’s needs. Finally, with a place in this role, my objective is to further uplift the student experience for all members of the Asian community by ensuring the safety of all students from discrimination on university grounds. As this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, I sincerely hope for your permission to allow me to represent us, Asian students of the University of Essex, for I aim to not only listen to the troubles of your hearts but to also calm them to the best of my abilities.

This has been Russo Wai. Thank you all for taking the time to read my manifesto and happy voting!
