Each year in February, students put themselves forward to run for a full-time, paid position as a Student Leader. They campaign for votes and every Essex student will have an equal chance to 'vote like a student' and choose who they want to be elected into each of the 6 roles. This is the SU Leadership Election.

JAMES SOPER

REPRESENTING SOCIETIES AND YOU!

One of my main objectives will be to raise awareness for the SU Parliament so that if not every role is filled after this election, I will make it my mission to fill every role. As President of Politics Society next year, I believe I will be in a great position to make more people aware of SU Parliament and find candidates for empty positions and next year's elections.

I really want to make the campus a safer place for everyone on campus, as I believe that is a given right as a member of the Student Union. I know many people have concerns around campus and within societies, there is a lot of work to do but I believe there are many sensible ways to achieve a safer campus.

If I am elected to this position I will make it my upmost priority to make sure I effectively represent not only societies but everyone on campus. For all decisions I make I will try to take students' opinions into account so I can best represent people. As a President of a society next year who will already be talking to many societies to collaborate on events, I will be able to get their opinions and feedback about the way societies operate within the SU to be able to make more informed and representative decisions.
