My Mission
If elected my mission is to both integrate the trans community with all other communities as well as provide safe spaces and activities for members of our own to connect with eachother:
- Running socials to meet others and interact in a comfortable environment, creating that safety net between eachother.
- Providing informative events to / with other communities to increase awareness and break down common stigmas of trans and gnc folk.
- I will attempt to tackle the unspoken feuds between our community and ones that are less understanding of us.
There is no education without argument.
About Me
If it wasnt obvious enough already, my name is Charlie and i'm a trans man (he/him). I study Events Management as a first year, moving to the UK to study in October from Guernsey. If you go out to sub zero or any of the night events on campus you may know me as 'the rock paper scissors guy' or 'the circle sunnies guy' or even 'the short mullet guy'. Let's just say i'm notorious for reintroducing myself because I don't remember the first time around. Things I like: all music, taking photos on my disposable camera, board games, tattoos - I have 5 : two monopoly pieces on my wrist, two dragons on my arm and a star on my buttcheek. I would tell you the story but I don't know it. I love studio ghibli and avatar (the last airbender not the blue people). Things I don't like: mushrooms, spicy food, that one mortifying Dr.Who episode, the water pressure of the uni showers. Special Skills: rock paper scissors, not shutting up, the rasputin dance (yes that was me at milk it), monopoly, getting horrendously ill, getting freindzoned, falling asleep in random places, getting stuck in trees.
Experience
I have been out for 9 years in a country that was rather unmerciful of trans folk so I can relate and understand the pain many of you will go through. For a long time I was the only trans person in my school. I took all of the judgement and violence against me and filtered it into a voice. The voice that got me into training days with schools and social services around how to be progressive for trans students and those in care. I've made it safer for people like us and I will not stop until everyone is free to be themselves. I have been on organising commitees for my local pride events, for trans mixers within schools and youth clubs. I have given 1 on 1 support to other trans folk and been in hot seat events for those outside the community to ask the questions and get the answers to educate themselves.
Everybody has feelings and thoughts but not everybody can express them. Being trans rep doesn't mean I'm the 'better trans' it just means I'm the loudest. Let me listen to you, let me be your voice.
