Each year in February, students put themselves forward to run for a full-time, paid position as a Student Leader. They campaign for votes and every Essex student will have an equal chance to 'vote like a student' and choose who they want to be elected into each of the 6 roles. This is the SU Leadership Election.

Standing for what is right will always make a difference.

We live in a world just hard enough to make it harder by not standing for what we believe is right. It is no time to follow the status quo. Women are a majority in our society, and still, somehow, we are a significantly marginalised group. What if we stand for a change that shall begin with improving the conditions in which we exist as students? We need to feel safe no matter the time or area. We need to know we can back up on each other as one. We need to learn to love our body just as it is. Let's start breaking stereotypes. Let's transform university facilities into safe spaces. Let's recognise that by working as a team, we are stronger! I will stand for that change if you choose me as your next women officer. This shall be by promoting a culture of information, respect, and sorority. By organising events that embrace women's power, equal opportunities, and representation. I will stand to make the school a safer space. I will talk about uncomfortable and taboo topics that shall no longer be labelled like that. I am committed to be brave, smart and great, well representing each one of us.
