In this open event, we will discuss the ongoing debates and controversies surrounding the effectiveness and efficacy of different therapeutic modalities. Greta Kaluzeviciute (PhD researcher and Graduate Teaching Assistant at University of Essex & Associate Academic at University of Derby) will provide a historical overview of issues surrounding the efficacy of psychoanalytic and psychodynamic treatment in relation to its clinical counterparts, such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). Joshua Pawaar (PPS student at University of Essex) will outline some of the key concerns and questions relating to clinical techniques and methodologies currently favoured (and less favoured!) within the evidence-based practice.
