A bit of background

I am an alumnus of the University and have lived in Wivenhoe and  Colchester for 20 years.

An experienced Non-Executive Director of a Registered Society (a membership organisation), providing financial products and services to support job creation, job sustainability and to strengthen communities.  I am also Chair of its Finance Committee.

A volunteer with the University’s Employability & Careers Centre, and the University Students’ Union society ENACTUS; I have been supporting Essex University students for five years.

A bit of background

I studied for both my BA and MA at Essex many years ago now and I am really delighted to be able to return and hopefully make a positive contribution to the lives of current Essex students.

My day job is also in higher education, working as Director of Development at University of the Arts London (UAL), giving me responsibility for all of the university's fundraising and alumni relations activity.  I have been a professional fundraiser for a range of organisations in different sectors, including in international development, human rights, and the arts, and have also been a Trustee of two other charities prior to joining the SU Board.

A bit of background

I’m a former student and during my time at the University of Essex, I was VP Welfare and Community and then President of the Students' Union. I’m honoured to be able to give back to the Students’ Union that gave me so many opportunities and hopefully assist in making positive changes to students’ time at Essex.

I’m a researcher and I currently work in higher education policy. In a previous job, I headed up innovation in research methodologies to better understand and support those from marginalised and underrepresented backgrounds. I currently sit on the steering group for Advancing Access, an organisation that supports school children at state schools to make university applications and the steering group for the Market Research Society’s Pride organisation that seeks to make research more inclusive.
