WHAT IS A PARLIAMENT REP OR STUDENT COMMUNITY OFFICER?

PARLIAMENT REP

Each of our campuses has their own Parliament. They meet once a month as a collective, and then break into their individual campus meetings.

Parliament makes change happen and ensures that the university is a place where every student's voice is valued, and is a place they enjoy being.

There are many different communities that make up Essex. We are looking for representatives who are happy to attend meetings and have the ability and passion to reach out and speak to their communities about issues, making sure that they contribute to shaping the environment they live and study in.

STUDENT COMMUNITY OFFICER

Student Community Officers also sit on Parliament, but in addition to this they help shape the events on offer to the student body, and ensure their community is represented at the highest levels of the universities decision making process.

If you would like to know more about the work Parliament and its representatives do, read this article by Rebel.

Everyone wants things to be better, but not everyone is prepared to be the person to make it happen. These roles will give you confidence, and help you build leadership skills.
