OFFICER UPDATES

MONTH

  1. We produced a Mature Student’s useful info of services leaflet that was distributed at freshers/Welcome Week.
  2. Tea Party arranged at Southend and Colchester for Freshers
  3. I have had many discussions and continue to work with the Talent Development Centre to ensure that services remain relevant and accessible to Mature Students. Returners workshops were already planned but I have had input in timings and accessibility at both sites.
  4. TDC 1:1 sessions are no longer an option but to bridge the gap a new online group workshop request form is also now available as a result. I will be looking at a survey to collect data regarding the need for 1:1 sessions to be reinstated, but am working on timing and resources to make this happen. If successful they will not be reinstated until the next academic year.
  5. Child-friendly study spaces: I have had a promising meeting at Southend, which remains a work in progress. I have also had numerous email discussions with various teams at Colchester to try and find a suitable space to do the same there. Some of these discussions have also been with Edmund Walker (SU VP for Education)
  6. I will in due course be looking at ways to create and facilitate appropriate events, considering timings, locations, and types.
  7. I continue to monitor and encourage the appropriate use of the Network Facebook page, which is already seeing connections being made.
