This week is Trans Awareness Week, learn about the support for our Trans community at Essex.

Transgender Day of Remembrance 2020 Vigil ?

Started in 1999 to remember those in the community who have been murdered as a result of transphobia, and to raise awareness globally of transphobic violence. Members of the trans community, along with our friends and allies, will gather to mourn those lost over the last year and to support each other.

We will be holding our vigil over Zoom this year due to lockdown restrictions. The vigil will include a number of speakers, followed by a reading of the official list of people we have lost this year, and a lighting of candles with a minutes silence. All are welcome to attend, but please bear in mind that this is to be a safe space for all trans and non-binary people, with their voices and experiences to be centred.

The vigil will commence at 6pm on Friday 20th November via Zoom
