open portfolio officer
This month I met with the VP Services and Comms, Jack Street, to discuss NUS Green Impact and the tasks associated with it. We divided up the tasks the SU needs to complete to fulfil the criteria for silver certification.
This month I extended my proposal for the swap shop and carried out more research on it, including contacting other unions who have such shops and asking them for advice on the situation. The proposal contains pros and cons of different types of shop and will be presented to Estates.
I have created some workshops on different environmental issues and intend to test them over the next two weeks in preparation for them to be held in the new academic year. The workshops that have been created so far surround the concept of reducing waste. Further workshops are in planning for other environmental issues to be led by others with more expertise.
A Facebook group has been set up for the divestment campaign to begin organisation. People & Planet, an environmental campaign group, have been in contact surrounding this campaign and will be supporting it and are sending a freshers’ pack for Freshers Fair as well as coordinating a workshop to prepare and launch the campaign.
ETHICALLY SOURCED HOODIES
Asked that executive hoodies be acquired from an ethical source, which they will be.
Had a meeting with Ole, who runs the campus garden, to discuss what needs to be done to improve the garden, and will be preparing a report on the next steps that will be taken. Researched other universities around the country who have schemes like this.
If you have got any questions or comments about my report please post them below or contact me at email@example.com.
