OFFICER REPORT

CAMPUS GARDEN

Discussed potential use of the garden for full time staff, seeing as prime growing and harvesting season is during exam time and summer holiday. Next month, I will be contacting different groups and trying to put together an organising committee who will meet regularly to ensure the garden remains in use and looked after.

PERIOD PRIDE

Contacted Mooncup about Period Pride, who will be sending promotional and educational material for use during an event to discuss environmentally friendly sanitary options, and will be allowing us to sell discounted Mooncups on campus during this time

NATIONAL SWEATSHOP FREE DAY OF ACTION

Successfully ran a Student Idea to get the union affiliated with Electronics Watch, an ethical purchasing monitoring body.

SALAD BAR

Successfully ran a Student Idea to bring back the salad bar to give students more choice in what they eat and have discussed with VP Services and Comms the pros and cons of the idea, to ensure the limitations of the salad bar don’t affect its success.

DIVESTMENT CAMPAIGN

Ran a workshop with the Environmental Society presented by Ams from People & Planet on how to run a successful campaign.

LESS PLASTIC

Reached out to Environmental Society members on social media to see where they would like to see plastic use reduced on campus.

NATIONAL STUDENT MONEY WEEK & GO GREEN WEEK

National Student Money Week and Go Green Week take place one after the other - the former beginning on the 6th of Feb and the latter beginning on the 13th. The theme for NSMW is Waste Not Want Not. I have contacted society execs about whether or not they want to be involved with either of these events and plan to start organising a roster of events for both weeks.
