PARTICIPATION AND INVOLVEMENT OFFICER
This term I have been mainly focusing on events and campaigns. I have talking to members of UCU on the pickets (during the 48 hour strike), and discussing the possibility of setting up a united front or solidarity movement between the students and teaching staff on campus. This was due to the realisation that the demands of the UCU workers and the students’ movement is not so different, as they all come to root cause of the ever increasing marketization and privatisation of education . I have also been in contact with the junior doctors again, and some nursing students to organise a panel discussion around the new contracts and the struggle for better conditions, hours and pay by NHS staff in general. This however was cancelled due to lack of time, and so will be organised in the upcoming academic year. For the final part of this term I will try to engage with students to register to vote in the upcoming EU referendum.
