VP Welfare and community
August has been a strange month in Sabb Land because I have taken some Annual Leave! I have been keeping up to date on what preparations have been happening in Essex for the start of the new year.
Here are a few of the things I have been working on this month:
I am currently working with SU advice to see how best I can use the service to best support students during the October Visa Rush!
New Students on Social Media
I was thrilled to see so many new students are already engaging with the Sabb team over social media and I can’t wait to meet you all in October!
Welfare in Sport
We are putting the finishing touches to the consent training for sports teams and am looking forward to seeing so many of you benefit from the training we are delivering this year! I am also looking at the ways we can better support Welfare officers within sports teams, especially when looking at tour.
I have been working with the University to help with their campaign on Sexual Violence this is to ensure that we are working together to put the best campaigns on for students that we can!
East Anglia Networking
At the beginning of the month all of the Sabbs from local Student Unions (UEA, CUSU, Anglia Ruskin, Uni of Suffolk and NUA) to see how we can best work together. It was a great day that led to lots of useful conversations around Welfare and what we can do help improve the lives of students.
I hope that you are all enjoying the end of your summer and I look forward to welcoming you back/ meeting you in October!
