Meet the Team

We are a friendly group of people whose job is to make your Essex and volunteering experience the best possible! Whenever you want to chat with us, you can email us to arrange a meeting (either online or in-person) or pop to the SU Reception, and we will happily discuss anything related to volunteering or student activities. Our team members are also Mental Health First-Aiders, so we can give you advice about mental health support available on campus heart

I’m Chris, the Volunteering Manager – you can talk to me about anything and everything volunteering-related!

I live with my partner Abbi, our beautiful daughter Ripley, and our incredibly needy cat Wiz; and when I’m not on campus, I try to spend as much time with them as possible. I play in a few bands and enjoy a good run whenever I can squeeze it in. I love pink shorts, red grapefruit, and Black Sabbath.

I graduated from the University of Kent with an MA in Literature, and since then I’ve had jobs in publishing, marketing, and events.

Before I came to the SU, I was the Front of House Manager at Colchester Arts Centre, but I’ve been involved with community spaces, and organised events – from vegan fairs to punk gigs – ever since I moved to Colchester. If you see me around campus, feel free to stop me for a chat – especially if it’s about darts, obscure heavy metal, or vegan food.

I've been at Essex as a student, student-staff, Societies Administrator, and now, Student Activities Coordinator. I love this place and care about your success here!

I'm nerdy, I love cats but I'm allergic, and my favourite colour is pink.

There are three Student Activities Coordinators in the team. We look after all aspects of the department, but if you need that specialist knowledge, then talk to me about VTeam and volunteering, talk to Jack Parker about societies, and Rob Neale about sports clubs.

angela Kokic Brnicevic (SHE/HER)

I’m a 3rd-year Psychology with Cognitive Neuroscience student who is constantly blabbering about how cool the human brain is. In my free time, I engage in various student activities; from volunteering in a committee position, training kickboxing, peer mentoring to being a Student Representative! I seriously think all students would benefit from finding a part of SU activities they’re interested in. You meet new people and discover different hobbies (this comment is not sponsored by the SUcheeky).

Talk to me about VTeam and volunteering in general or anything related to Animal Protection, Clothes Swap and Lend a Hand. I'm always happy to listen to any questions regarding the Student Activities and direct you to the right person in the department.

Hi all! :)

My name is Carla and I am a second-year Politics and Human Rights student. Last year I joined the SU family and started working as Student Activities Assistant.

You can always reach out to me for help for anything related to VTeam, volunteering projects (Einstein, Art Club and RTP) and events, advice related to your degree if we have a similar one, or just reach out as a friend :)

I am Payton Kramer and the Volunteering Assistant for VTeam over in Southend's campus! I am a year 2 International Business and Entrepreneurship student from America. I am passionate about networking and I love McDonald's more than the average person!

Thomas Williams (HE/HIM)

I am a final year Sports and Exercise Science student with a particular interest in the musculoskeletal system and sports psychology.

I help oversee the Lingo, Teaching Assistants and Photography and Film regular projects.

You will often find me getting involved with various volunteering projects and I am an avid advocate for mental health awareness.

If you have questions or queries, I am always happy to listen and help signpost you to the appropriate person.
