Hello and welcome to the University of Essex Fencing Club. For over 15 years students have enjoyed fencing at the university, and for the university in competition. This Olympic sport exercises not only the body but also the mind. Strength, speed, and accuracy are important, but equally so are strategy, determination, and confidence. Our club trains in all three weapons, (foil, sabre, and épée), so there’s something for everyone
Sessions
8-10 in the Sports Centre
Tuesdays: ‘Fight Night’ – principally used for piste matches
Thursdays: ‘Training Night’ – the expertise of our professional coach Lyndon Taylor, mixed with other friendly matches
Equipment
All equipment is provided by the club. All you need to do is make sure to wear appropriate clothing, i.e. t-shirt, sports trousers, and trainers
