University of Essex Fencing Club
Hello, and welcome to the University of Essex Fencing Club. Students have been fencing at the university for almost 40 years, making the club one of the oldest on campus. Fencing is a unique and traditional Olympic sport that exercises not only the body, but also the mind. Strength, speed, and accuracy are important, but equally so are strategy, determination, and confidence. Our club trains in all three weapons - foil, sabre, and épée.
The club is the perfect place to start if you have never fenced before. We offer club sessions with a professional coach at a low market cost and our members are able to borrow all the required kit and weapons from the club. Training covers all three weapons, internal competitions and you will be able to represent the club in the BUCS league where we have a team dedicated to providing beginners with match experience. We are also a sociable and fun club and we welcome both staff and student.
For more experienced fencers we can offer high quality team sessions, one-on-one coaching and high performing men’s and women’s 1st teams in BUCS. Check out our Facebook Group for more information and updates.
Information regarding the 2011/2012 Academic Year will be added shortly.
