VP Sports and Societies
The President of the Society Guild is responsible for the overall running of the societies within the Guild and its political leadership. Ensures that they are continually developing and improving along with providing the best experience for the members
Student Activities Manager
Oversees the clubs, societies and volunteering with the Students' Union.
Deputy Student Activites Manager
Oversees the socieites and their development. Also oversees all the democratic processes within the Student's Union which includes elections, general meetings and union council
Treasurer
The Treasurer is responsible for coordinating with the four Conveners and Union Staff to discuss the allocation of the Societies Guild budget. Alongside this they hold budget and audit meetings with our individual societies to ensure the money granted to them is spent as specified.
Secretary
The role of this officer is to take minutes at every Societies Guild General Meeting and publish them for the membership. Send out regular bulletin with information about Events, Fundraising and Workshop info etc. Also maintain the website and involve the media to promote Societies.
Community Volunteer
This role is to liaise with the SU Community and Volunteering Manager and staff, to provide the Societies with opportunities to volunteer, and find opportunities for Societies that require it. To work closely with each Society Representative to ensure the vision of the Union in the Community is always improving.
Events Officer
The remit of the Events Officer is to simply help facilitate the large events in the Societies Guild, whilst also working with the Fundraising Officer around large scale charity events, and large scale volunteer projects. This Officer should be the first point of call when looking to Host a “Unite” or run an event in the SU Venues. Along with the Charity and Fundraising Officer, the Events Officer will look at using these nights to improve Societies financial situations. They must also work with the Sports Centre in promoting the internal tournaments and events to students.
Fundraising Officer
The Fundraising Officer will be required to work closely with the President and Events Officer on weekly SU nights and Societies Guild Charity Week, RAG Week and the wider SU fundraising projects. They will look at those societies in debt, or difficult financial situations and look at ways for them to self fund.
Cultural and Religious Convenor
The Cultural & Religious Convener represents all of these Societies to the Societies Guild, presenting their views, suggestions and issues to the VP Sports and Socs and the rest of the committee. Additionally, the C&R Convener supports these societies by holding regular meetings throughout the year to keep up to date with the latest issues and events; being up to date with events these societies set up; helping them promote their events; working with them on issues; and other things societies require a little help with! Also sits in on the Finance discussions.
The Music Convener represents all the Music Societies to the Societies Guild, presenting their views, suggestions and issues to the VP Sports and Socs and the rest of the committee. Additionally, the Music Convener supports these societies by holding regular meetings throughout the year to keep up to date with the latest issues and events; being up to date with events these societies set up; helping them promote their events; working with them on issues; and other things societies require a little help with! Also sits in on the Finance discussions.
Political and Activities Convenor
The Politics and Activities Convener represents all the societies within that convene to the Societies Guild and the VP Sports and Socs in order to better represent the views of the societies, bringing up any issues that may arise throughout the year. This year it is a goal of the convener to organise more multi-society events, promote the individual society events, assist new societies get started (both pre and post ratification by the SG), and address any other issues that arise. Also sits in on the Finance discussions.
Arts and Departmental Convenor
The A&D Convener represents all of these Societies to the Societies Guild, presenting their views, suggestions and issues to the VP Sports and Socs and the rest of the committee. Additionally, the A&D Convener supports these societies by holding regular meetings throughout the year to keep up to date with the latest issues and events; being up to date with events these societies set up; helping them promote their events; working with them on issues; and other things societies require a little help with! Also sits in on the Finance discussions.
