International Nurses Day

The Nursing Society will be providing an afternoon event in the SU Lounge. This is a great opportunity to meet and get to know fellow nursing students. There will be  mocktails and cupcakes will be sold to fundraise for the Nursing Society. In addition, a campaign will be taking place called ‘Thank the Nurse’ which we would highly recommend that you take part in. All there is to it is filli out a template with why you would like to thank nurses for what they do and then pose for the photographer! There will then be open mic style live music from 6pm.

This is a small but meaningful way to show your fellow nurses why you appreciate them, and for non-nurses to do the same for you.

We'll be celebrating IND 2016 a bit belatedly on campus once students are back from placement on May 23rd. We're just finalising details regarding the events that are taking place - so watch this space!

Health education funding: your su is against changes

The Government is planning to change the funding that Nursing students receive. In the next few days, we'll be sending letters to MPs in Southend and Colchester to highlight our concerns and to lobby to keep the bursaries.

In the meantime, we'd encourage you to feed into the Government's current consultation on the future of Health Education Funding. You can do this by heading to the Government's website.
