LGBT STUDENTS OFFICER
For the last Ignite, the theme will be a pride special in conjunction with campus pride. I have liaised with the LGBT* society so that they will be holding a social for the event for both members of the LGBT* community and anyone else who wants to get involved.
The football tournament which took place on 21st May was highly successful. Both the ELGBTA and sports centre staff helped to put on the event for students and members of the public. Families and local football teams were present and there was a lot of discourse surrounding homophobia and transphobia.
LGBT* CAMPUS PRIDE:
This event is now being marketed and advertised to students and the wider public. The afternoon will involve: A live DJ, food stalls, outdoor bar, arts and crafts and face painting. Planning campus pride has been a great challenge and is highly anticipated as it is the first pride to happen on campus, but I am hopeful it will be a success. I have mainly been working with events management and the LGBT* and friends society exec to put on the event, who have helped add stalls for the day.
