Dear newcomers, welcome to the University of Essex Liberty League!
Generally speaking, we aim at opening a debate on freedom and raising awareness of the importance of personal liberty by providing education on classical liberal tradition. We wish to unite students from across the intellectual and political spectrum who are concerned about liberty. The most commonly discussed topics involve Philosophy, Politics, Economics, Psychology, History and Law, however, students from any departments are more than welcome to join.
Our primary purpose lies in inviting renowned guest speakers down to Essex to give speeches on various topics. We also organise film-screenings, discussions, social events related to freedom and plenty of other topics, arrange trips to events and conferences and provide you with lots of resources you can draw on.
If you join our society, you will obtain a book of your choice from our wide selection.
