What does Amnesty International do?

Amnesty International is an organization founded in 1961 to defend and promote Human Rights. Today, Amnesty is the world’s largest human rights organization with millions of members and supporters. They all endorse the vision of a world in which every person enjoys all human rights. Amnesty International investigates and exposes the facts whenever and wherever abuses happen;  lobbies governments, and other influential groups such as companies, ensuring they keep their promises and respect international law. 

Amnesty mobilizes millions of supporters around the world to campaign for change and to stand in defense of activists on the frontline. So, why not be one of them?

What does Amnesty Essex do?

Amnesty Essex holds regular fundraising events and debates throughout the year and invites guest speakers for informative talks. 

We want to raise awareness of diverse human rights issues, such as women's rights, racism, global warming, migration, and human trafficking... Our goal is to make a difference both on campus and in the world.

You can join our weekly meetings and come to our socials to have some fun and meet other members!
