Candidate for the position of Welfare Officer

MEGA ONORUVWE

I would like to become a welfare officer for our club because I want to give back to this club. Being a part of this club has been one of the highlights of my university experience. It has allowed me to discover a new passion and connect with a diverse group of individuals.

I understand that being a university student can be overwhelming and the challenges students face extend beyond the field. When I first joined this club, I took some time to adjust and learn the sport. However, I stayed and loved this team because of the non-judgemental and empathetic environment created. As a welfare officer, I will be  dedicated to providing a safe space for members to express their concerns, seek guidance, and access the necessary support networks.

If given the opportunity to be Welfare Officer, I will promote well-being by staying informed about mental health and well-being resources available on campus. I will also liaise with other committee members to ensure that the club follows the necessary safety protocols during all club activities. Most importantly, I will be a friendly face that people can talk to if they have any concerns.

Furthermore, I have a unique set of skills that would be helpful for this post. My communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills (developed in academic and non-academic settings) put me in a good position to take on this role.

In conclusion, I believe that my passion for our club, coupled with my personal and interpersonal skills, makes me well-suited for the role of Welfare Officer. I am dedicated to fostering a culture of well-being within our community, and I am eager to work collaboratively to make our club experience not only memorable on the field but also enriching for each member off the field.
