Guide to Getting to the Southend Campus

Moving to a new village, town city or county can be daunting, especially when you can’t figure out how to get from place to place.

Here’s a guide on how to find your way to your new home.

CAR AND PARKING

Southend is just half an hour from the M25 via the A13 or A127. For sat navs, postcode SS1 1LW provides the correct route directions.?

There is plenty of town centre parking in?public car parks. The closest car park is located underneath University Square student accommodation which accessed via College Way and is payable by phone only.

TRAIN

There are frequent trains from London to Southend which is served by two different rail lines, with journey times of 45 minutes to one hour:

Southend Victoria (0.3 miles from our campus) to London Liverpool Street - operated by?Abellio Greater Anglia

Southend Central (0.2 miles from our campus) to London Fenchurch Street - operated by?c2c

If you are a student planning to arrive by train from London on a weekend, there may be a replacement bus service in place for some or all of your journey to Southend due to engineering works on the train lines.

If you’re going to be using the train a lot, definitely check out the weekly/monthly tickets and discounts on the C2C line.

BIKE

If you fancy eco-friendly alternatives, consider getting yourself a bike. There are loads of places across campus where you can chain your bike. 

BUS/COACH/TAXI

National Express operates services to Southend Bus Station from all over the UK.

As the campus is located in the town centre, most local buses stop nearby. Check out Arriva bus deals and prices here

There are also a number of local taxi services based in Southend.

TRAVELLING FROM AIRPORTS

Southend Airport

Our Southend Campus is just 1.7 miles (2.8km) from?London Southend Airport. You can travel from the airport by bus or train.

Stansted Airport

Our campus is not far from?London Stansted Airport, the quickest way to travel is by coach. Journey time is about 1 hour 30 minutes.

Heathrow and Gatwick Airports

The quickest way to travel from the airport to Southend Campus is by train.

Luton Airport

If you are arriving at London Luton airport, the best option is to get the?National Express?coach. If you are using public transport instead of our airport transfer service on a weekend, there may be a replacement bus service in place for some or all of your journey due to engineering works on the train lines. Your journey may therefore take longer than usual.
