🍿Movie Night alert!
Tuesday, November 4th, at 6:00 PM in Room 5A.118
We'll be watching The Innocents (1961), directed by Jack Clayton, an adaptation of Henry James's The Turn of the Screw.
This is far more than a simple ghost story. It's an unsettling exploration of perception, repression, and innocence that may not be so innocent after all. The film carries rich psychoanalytic undertones - the concept of "the Uncanny," childhood sexuality, and the class connotations of Victorian society.
After the screening, we'll discuss these themes and unpack what makes the film so psychologically disturbing. How does the uncanny emerge? And how do class, desire, and repression shape the atmosphere of fear?
