SU advice

Hello, we're SU Advice. We can give you free, confidential and impartial advice on a load of issues.

With the challenges resulting from COVID-19, we understand it’s a very difficult time for you. More than ever we are here for you, to give you the advice and support you need. Whether you’re worried, or just fancy a chat, talk to us. You can find all the ways to get in touch with us below.

As many of us are having the same concerns right now, why not take a look at our SU Advice COVID-19 101.

  • Renting in Private Sector Housing and Want to Leave Early? You can contact your landlord or agent to try to negotiate an early release however; unfortunately they are under no obligation to release tenants from their agreements before the end of the fixed term period. Click here to our full guide on the steps you can take. SU Advice has put together a suggested template letter that you might want to use and adapt to your own situation. Download the template here.

  • September Reassessment period exam results.  If you have taken any reassessments over the summer period your results will be issued in late September (see here for the Exam Board results dates).  If you have not passed your reassessments or submitted Extenuating Circumstances because you felt your performance had been negatively affected, you will likely have options awarded to you.  As well as the online results information, you should also receive an email which will outline further information about these options.  It is really important you consider these options carefully and seek support before making your final decision.  If you have any questions or are unhappy with the Exam Board decisions, please contact one of our advisers as soon as possible.

  • Going Through Academic Offence and Student Conduct Meetings? We know it is a very difficult time and that these meetings may be particularly stressful at the moment.  We can offer non-judgemental support, help you prepare for your meetings and support by attending meetings with you to ensure that you are given a fair opportunity to express your side of any situation.

Currently due to COVID-19 we are operating a remote service.

You can contact us Monday to Friday 10am - 4pm during term time and Monday to Friday 1pm - 4pm during vacations.

Contact us to book a 1-2-1 appointment over Zoom or telephone with an adviser.
