PENIS ENVY AND FEMINISM:
Feminists have always viewed psychoanalysis with suspicion—after all, one of Freud's central concepts is 'penis envy' which looks like it would reinscribe inferiority and envy into what it is to be a women. However, we will explore what Mari Ruti says in the introduction to her book, "Penis Envy and Other Bad Feelings" so as to see whether a feminist appropriation of penis envy may be possible, and what politics that might bring. Join us in 5A.118 between 6PM-8PM on the 11th of December. Tea and snacks available.
