ABOUT OUR CLUB

Whether you're just starting out or have years of experience, we have something for every dancer! As a Gold Standard Club, we offer a wide range of dance styles and opportunities, where you’ll find the perfect fit for your unique interests and abilities.

Over the years, we have taken part in various competitions as a competitive squad and have been awarded many first place titles. Beyond our squad training, we also have weekly social classes, exciting performances at basketball games, and much more. These activities are not only fun but also an amazing way for us to bond and get to know each other better.

You'll also have the chance to step into leadership roles, whether by joining our committee or even teaching a social class. Every dancer also gets the exciting opportuinity to perform in our Annual Showcase at the Lakeside Theathre! We host regular socials which is the perfect opportunity to meet new friends.

Everyone involved in the Essex Blades Dance Club, in whatever way they participate, becomes part of a close-knit and supportive family. With a vibrant calendar full of exciting events, Essex Blades Dance Club is the perfect place to express you passion for dance and yourself, make new friends, and grow as a dancer. For the 2024/25 academic year, Essex Dance has 5 competition squads - Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Commercial, and Street.

GET STARTED

To be a part of the club, you need to join up as a member. The different club membership options are listed in the tab above with a description of what each membership covers. By purchasing a membership you are agreeing to the club's code of conduct.

To get involved, all you need is comfortable clothing, suitable footwear and a drink for classes!

Please contact the group committee if you have any queries about which membership is right for you.

Please note that your membership information will be used in conjunction with Essex Sport (University of Essex) purely for the purpose of providing access to required facilities and data analysis. Your data will not be shared with anyone else or used for marketing purposes. Memberships are manually uploaded to the Essex Sport system so it may take up to 5 working days before you can book onto your sessions via the Essex Sport app.

As a charity sports club that looks to benefit all student members, we are always looking at ways to keep the cost to our members as low as possible.  We would welcome any donations towards our club activities and you can use any of the following links below, should you wish to make a donation towards our club funds.  We welcome any dontation you are able to make.

All donations (minus a web processing fee) will be given to the Essex Blades Dance Club.
