Welcome to Essex Desi Society!

We’re here to celebrate and share South Asian culture on campus. From food, music, and film to festivals and traditions, our events are open to everyone, no matter your background.

Through the variety of social and cultural events we host throughout the year, you’ll never be left wanting. Here are some of the things we do:

Membership is just £3 and gives you discounts on food, drinks, and event tickets.

Desi Society | SU Communities Election 26-27

These are your annual general elections, where members choose the students who will lead your society or sports club in the key roles of President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Welfare Officer for the next academic year. Anyone elected will officially take up their role from 1st August 2026. However, if both the incoming and outgoing committee's agree, a handover can take place earlier to support a smooth transition.
