Alashia Society is temporarily dormant but hoping to reopen in January.

Alashia is one of many ancient names of Cyprus. The name represents many ethnicities as Cyprus is well known for its past ethnic settlers. We aim to welcome anyone from any background.

By creating a society like this we aim to make our members feel welcome and have a stable friendship with people from their culture as well as others. Through interaction, we intend to provide information about the geographical location of Cyprus and to create awareness of the past ethnic traditions which have embedded in our culture today. 

We aim to participate in encouraging and helping students who feel isolated, due to any reason, to become more active and help create an environment where they can feel accepted and comfortable. Helping people to have a memorable and fun university life is important. Therefore, having a name which does not eliminate people from joining invites everyone to be a part of a society where cultural similarities are established and cherished.

Our Aims

• We will be empathetic and understanding to the differences in Cyprus and the two ethnicities. This way we will cherish our similarities, maintain peace and create respect towards one another.
• Promote the Cypriot cuisine, traditions and night life.
• Raise awareness of Cyprus as a geographical location.
• We aim of creating unity within diverse cultures as well as having the opportunity to celebrate our own.
