The Tennis Club has grown rapidly over the past few years to become the biggest club on campus, with over 280 members! The club holds training sessions for players of all abilities every week during term time. Tennis boasts a variety of men’s, women’s and mixed teams competing against other universities in BUCS and clubs in local leagues. We also run regular internal tournaments and tennis ladder matches so everyone can get involved! Everthing is free as well so you really have nothing to loose in joining the club.
Off the court, the Tennis Club hosts weekly themed socials and organises other events such as Tour and charity events for all our members to enjoy. We were named Social Club of the Year 2010/11 and have been shortlisted for Club of the Year for the past two years at the annual Sports Awards!

We plan to make tennis and social events regularly available to everyone! From those that have never played before to those who have played at a very high level and are looking for regular competitive tennis. The club is also looking to improve its overall performance in BUCS and local league competitions. We hope to expand and improve our calendar of charity fundraising events and wish to begin a programme of volunteering to bring tennis to the local community in the coming year.

Non-students and students at other institutions should contact the Sports and Societies Office (dsking@essex.ac.uk) for details on how to join. To sign up as a member of this club please ensure that you have first registered to www.essexstudent.com and click on the membership payment icon (add to basket) at the bottom of the page, then you can pay via Debit or Credit Card through the online payment system. Alternatively you can sign up as a member of this club by enquiring at the Students' Union Reception by providing your PRID number on your student card.
