Welcome to SU Student Services. We offer many different services from bus passes to free condoms, come in and say hi and we will try our best to answer any questions you may have or point you in the right direction if you're lost.

What we can help with

PRESCRIPTIONS

Has the doctor prescribed you some medication or have you got a regular prescription you need? For ease and convenience, you can get your prescription delivered to campus for collection from SU Reception.  Ask your Doctor to send your prescription to The Hythe Pharmacy who you can then instruct to deliver your prescriptions to campus. You will get an email when it’s ready to pick up from SU Reception.

BUS PASSES

Get your heavily discounted Student First Bus passes – available to any staff/student with an @essex.ac.uk email. Check out the guide below, or head to SU Reception for support with purchasing.

LOCKERS

Need to store books between lectures or need to lighten the load you’re carrying around campus? We have a number of small secure lockers available for rent on the first floor of the LTB. Lockers are £5 deposit (cash or card payment) for the term. Deposits are refundable providing the locker is emptied and key returned when asked. Email su@essex.ac.uk or drop by Reception for availability.

EQUIPMENT HIRE

Are you looking to borrow equipment to support your student-led event? Please book through clubs, societies, VTeam or engagement team. Hire items such as: card macines for fundraising, water urns to provide hot drinks at your event, board games and art supplies.

WELLBEING & SUPPORT SUPPLIES

Did you know the SU provides free condoms, menstrual products, and panic alarms to help keep you safe and supported on campus? Pick up from SU Reception. We also sell pregnancy tests for £2, available to discreetly purchase. If you need confidential and impartial advice, you can reach out to SU Advice

VEHICLES

What vehicles do we have

The SU owns 2 x vehicles:

  • 9 seater people carrier (1 x driver, 8 x passengers)
  • 17 seater minibus (1 x driver, 16 x passengers)

In order to drive a vehicle you must become an SU registered driver.

Who is eligble to drive

Students, SU Staff and University Staff who meet the eligibility criteria below are able to hire.

9 seater people carrier:

  • Aged 19-70 years old
  • Hold a manual UK licence for a minimum of 2 years

Drivers under 21 will be subject to an excess of £150 if they are involved in an accident

17 seater minibus:

  • Aged 21-70 years old
  • Hold a manual UK licence for a minimum of 2 years
  • D1 entitlement on licence
