weLCOME TO THE UNCONVENTIONAL FAMILY.

Working at Essex Students' Union is different to anything you've ever done before. It's less like a job, more like being part of an amazing, unconventional family.

It’s ambitious, challenging and rewarding work - fancy coming on the adventure with us?

This isn't a NORMAL workplace

At Essex SU we don't stand still. This is the nerve centre of a multi-million pound charity full of people who are really proud of the work we do for our 15,000 student members.

Together we're on a mission to become the World's Most Student-centred Organisation (TM). It's a bold, super ambitious target and we're already well on the way there.

Based over three campuses

Our Colchester campus is set on 200 acres of parkland complete with lakes, restaurants, banks, shops, bars, a gym, a cinema and loads of great places for you to grab coffee. There's even a discounted day nursery for parents.

Work Hard, Play Hard

At Essex we're super-dedicated about our work, but playing hard is just as important to being successful.

So take your pick of regular nights out, cinema trips, book club, the annual rounders league, knit and natter club (AKA bitch & stitch), lunchtime gym classes and the legendary Christmas Staff Day, to name a few...

Flexibility

Great work doesn't just happen 9 - 5. We know that some people work better earlier, and some work better later. We do everything we can to make sure your working pattern works for you.

Grow your brain

We're proud to be the first ever SU to be awarded the Investors In People Gold award - it's a sign of how serious we are about helping you to grow and develop. As well as a dedicated skills team, we work with the University to run great career-boosting programmes. Plus, if you've been here two years you can do a Masters degree for free.
