KARATE
hello, we are the essex blades KARATE club
Karate is a Japanese Martial Art, which is defensive in nature and can be taught in many different ‘styles’.
Karate can be trained both in the form of Traditional Karate and Sport Karate; Kata (routine) and Kumite (fighting). This martial art is known to enhance confidence; self-discipline; leadership skills; and helps to improve focus.
How many teams do we have?
Karate is mostly an individual sport but can also consist of small teams, such as team Kata. There are opportunities to represent the blades during the year at the BUCS Karate Championships and smaller competitions year round.
Do I need anything else before I get involved?
Due to the nature of the sport, including the potential of some light level of contact; we would recommend bringing a gumshield. Likewise, we also recommend wearing sport clothing or similar.
